Bio data of Mrs. Jordana Diengdoh Pavel, Consul General of India

Mrs. Jordana Diengdoh Pavel took over charge as the Consul General of India, Birmingham on 1^st November, 2007.  Mrs. Pavel is a career diplomat. She joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1979 and has served in various Indian Missions abroad which included Spain, Romania, Bangladesh, Germany, Zimbabwe, Australia, Ethiopia and the Russian Federation.

 Her most recent postings were as Ambassador of India to Ethiopia; Ambassador of India accredited to Djibouti; Representative of India to the African Union, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia; Consul General of India, Saint Petersburg, Russian Federation; Deputy High Commissioner, High Commission of India, Canberra, Australia; Deputy High Commissioner, High Commission of India, Harare, Zimbabwe.

Before joining the Indian Foreign Service, Mrs. Pavel worked for the Indian Railways from 1974 to 1978 as the first Indian woman to have joined the Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS).
